Who we’re looking for
Toyota Financial Services (TFS) Technology team is looking for a highly motivated individual to fill the role of Principal Architect.
This is a hands-on individual contributor role responsible and accountable for architecture and design decisions within a domain. The ideal candidate will ensure that proposed technology solutions meet or exceed functional and non-functional requirements, adhere to architectural standards, and align with the organization’s long-term digital transformation strategy.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Collaborate with the domain leadership team to define and influence technology strategy and direction.
- Own all architectural decisions within the domain, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture standards and organizational objectives.
- Lead the creation and maintenance of the Business Capability Map for the domain.
- Define and document Current State and Target State Architectures, aligning them with the overall technology strategy.
- Drive hands-on system design discussions to craft scalable, high-performance solutions.
- Participate in and contribute to cross-domain architecture governance routines, promoting alignment across the enterprise.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams, establishing best practices and high standards for development.
- Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends, integrating them into the architectural roadmap as appropriate.
- Advocate for and occasionally contribute directly to coding efforts when required to evaluate or develop solutions.
- Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Domain Architecture Leader.
What You Bring
- Significant progressive experience in Enterprise Architecture practices and governance, with a four-year degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Expertise in designing and implementing modern 12-factor applications, promoting code reuse and cloud-native business solutions.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C#, Python, and familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure.
- Demonstrated ability to design and deliver secure, scalable, reliable, and fault-tolerant distributed applications.
- Knowledge and hands-on experience with microservices architectures, real-time streaming architectures, and other distributed systems.
- Proven ability to address cross-cutting concerns such as logging, application testing, instrumentation, and security in cloud-native solutions.
- Strong leadership skills with a passion for mentoring, collaborating with stakeholders, and advocating for innovative technologies.
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills with the ability to present technical information effectively to diverse audiences, including business executives and developers.
Added Bonus If You Have
- Over 5 years of experience in enterprise architecture and governance.
- Prior experience in the Financial Services Industry and understanding of its unique technology requirements.
- Relevant certifications such as TOGAF, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or Azure certifications.
- Experience with migrating legacy systems to cloud environments.
